A vehicle is deemed to be abandoned if it is left at a motor vehicle repair facility without an attempt by the owner, a person on the owner's behalf, or any other person having legal right thereto to regain possession thereof for any abandoned motor vehicle (i.e., Automobiles, Trucks, Motorcycles, Boats, ATV's, etc.)
If you are a mechanic or auto body shop and have done any of the following:
1. Physically diagnosed repairs on a motor vehicle and/or written an estimate without starting the work, and the customer leaves the vehicle and cannot be reached, or
2. Made repairs to a customer's vehicle without the customer paying for the repairs and leaving this vehicle at your shop, or
3. Had a potential customer leave their vehicle abandoned at your repair facility before giving an estimate, diagnostic, or performing any repairs,
You have the right to apply for title for that vehicle.
